Meet Tracie.

Tracie Bearden was born in Illinois, but St. Louis, Missouri is her home! She lives in the mountains of Montrose, CO. She graduated in 2010 from Southern Illinois University- Edwardsville with her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP). In 2018, she became a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) and became a Certified Brain Injury Specialist-Trainer (CBIST) in 2020. Tracie stands out as an SLP in the brain injury space for several reasons.

Beyond her expert knowledge and clinical experience across the traumatic brain injury (TBI) continuum, Tracie has also been in the shoes of a TBI survivor.

In 2018, Tracie survived a traumatic experience that resulted in optic neuropathy and a mild-moderate hypoxic concussion. Her journey on the other side of the clinician’s seat opened her eyes to the variety of struggles TBI survivors experience throughout recovery. Between implementing effective cognitive compensatory strategies and learning how to cope with a “new norm,” she transformed her clinical practice to encompass a level of empathy and expertise hard to find anywhere else.

Whether someone has suffered a concussion, serious brain injury, or is dealing with long-term post-COVID cognitive impairments, Tracie offers both the specialized training and personal perspective to help other survivors achieve their goals.
