The 5 Most Common {Physical} Post-Concussion Symptoms
Symptoms DO NOT have to immediately set in to be related to a concussion; they can set in within hours or even days after the initial injury. A delay of onset of symptoms does not mean it’s not related to post concussive disorder
Headache: Pain isn’t common under any circumstances. Any level of a headache should be reported to a medical provider immediately following head trauma. It could also be indicative of a more serious injury.
Blurred Vision: Not only blurred vision but also:
Trouble focusing your vision
•Double Vision
•Any change in your vision
•Blurred Vision
CAN be a huge symptom and hallmark trait of a concussion or a more severe brain injury
Sensitivity to Light: New onset of difficulty tolerating sunlight, lights indoors, or noticing relief with decreased light is a physical symptom commonly noted with a concussion.
Nausea/ Vomiting: If you or a loved one experience nausea, vomiting, or VOMITING THAT RELIEVES YOUR HEADACHE following a suspected or diagnosed concussion (or any head trauma) should seek emergency medical attention right away. 👉🏻Vomiting that relieves your headache could be indicative of a more severe injury.
Change in balance: An individual may notice this when they stand up and need more time to get their footing before walking, feeling off balance with stairs or uneven walkways, requiring the use of handrails and support more often than usual following a concussion/head trauma.
As always, if you or a loved one notices any of these symptoms, report your symptoms to your provider or seem emergency medical attention IMMEDIATELY!
